Broom House Farm Shop is on an organic farm just outside Durham City. 

We love visiting here as a family and tend to pick up some of their delicious bacon or sausages for a tasty breakfast on a weekend.

Their shop also stocks a huge range of local produce as well as gifts and cards.

Collected is an independent bookshop - a great place to browse and buy brilliant books as well as enjoy coffee and conversation. It's a little haven in the city and a place I love to visit.

They also run the Collected Club - books on subscription! Join the club and they will supply your regular reading fix with a new book, delivered to your door, every month.

Field & Fodder is a haven of foodie treats and gifts.  I recall an eventful walk to the shop one day which resulted in emergency purchases of welly socks and scotch eggs. Any shop that stocks both has my vote!

She is a real advocate for local writers and there's a children's book section to peruse in store.
